Slotervaart is located in the Schinkelkwartier within the De Plantijn district. Over the next 15 years, the De Plantijn innovation district will transform into an inviting urban neighborhood with a diverse mix of functions where everyone can feel at home. Since 2021, collaboration has been ongoing between key partners in De Plantijn: Het Slotervaart, Sanquin, Cordaan, the Antoni van Leeuwenhoek hospital and the City of Amsterdam to shape these shared plans. By choosing a longer timeline, the parties can better respond to evolving market needs.

The(re)development will focus on a total of approximately 450,000 m² of floor space for work, living, and amenities: doubling the current program. Nieuw-West is an active area, with over 5,000 people already working in the De Plantijn neighborhood. This number will increase significantly with the planned developments, creating a lively atmosphere during the day and a growing demand for evening amenities. In the coming years, new facilities such as restaurants, housing, laboratories, and a supermarket will be added. In short, De Plantijn area development will become a vibrant new neighborhood for everyone to enjoy.
