Yesterday, Het Slotervaart was all about partying! We celebrated the opening of the renewed entrance court, Douwe Jan Egberts Café and Train More, together with local residents, partners and tenants. Led by Karin Flowers the afternoon got a sparkling and musical touch, where laughing, talking and dancing went hand in hand.The highlight? A ceremonial game of pétanque on the new course! Cor van Zadelhoff, Marjolijn Meijer, @Patrick van Erven, Martijn Overmulder, Nabila Bouabbouz, Geertjen Pot and Martine Grundemann all showed their best shot, but in the end, Marjolein Meijer took off with the win. There was also room for inspiration: Mohamed Mahdi talked about neighborhood initiatives such as Casa Sofia, the Health Café for neighborhood mothers and the future museum on the Sloterplas. As icing on the cake, Karin Bloemen ended the afternoon with a song specially written for Het Slotervaart: “That's Het Slotervaart, Long live Het Slotervaart, Hip hip hurrah for Het Slotervaart.” We would like to thank everyone for coming. It was an afternoon full of connection, fun and energy just like this heart of the neighborhood should be!

On June 19, Zadelhoff, Zavier and FRESH | Real People signed a term sheet for 84 care units in Het Slotervaart.
Future-proof elderly housing for people with care needs will soon be built on the 9th and 10th floors. Zavier (Estea Zorg & Vebego Assist Zorg) provides care, FRIS manages and rents, and Rabobank helps make financing possible. Construction will start this autumn. In 2026, we hope to welcome the first residents. A milestone that we are proud of! Thanks to everyone who made this possible.

Last week, Karel Appel's colorful work officially returned to Het Slotervaart. After years in the former Slotervaart hospital, it has now found a permanent place in the DE Coffee Café on our ground floor, which opens on July 10. A (recurring) valuable addition to the cultural soul of Het Slotervaart.

Cooperation agreement for development framework De Plantijn signed
Monday, March 3 marked an important milestone in the area development of The Plantine. In De Dakbouw, the De Plantijn Development Framework Cooperation Agreement was signed by Sanquin, Cordaan, Antoni van Leeuwenhoek, Municipality of Amsterdam and of course also by us as Slotervaart. Amidst all these developments, Het Slotervaart plays a connecting role, as a place where cooperation, innovation and encounters come together. We are proud to be part of this transformation and look forward to the next steps in De Plantijn's growth!
The Slotervaart opens to the Johan Huizingalaan.
The low-rise building, where the facility service was housed and where the emergency aggregates once stood, on Johan Huizingalaan has now been demolished. Space will be made for the second main entrance, making Het Slotervaart even more accessible and further strengthening the connection with the neighborhood. The concrete and steel of the low-rise buildings have been carefully disassembled.
A number of concrete slabs are being given a new life in the façade of the Kruisgebouw. This way, part of the old Slotervaart will be preserved, while the other material has been harvested and can be reused in other projects. This is how we continue to build a sustainable and modern future.

The roof structure has officially been completed! This completes the final phase of the redevelopment of the former Slotervaart hospital.
The party was on December 11! All parties involved including: Medicom Six, MVSA Architects, Van Dorp, Dev_ real estate came together to celebrate this special milestone. Het Slotervaart is now bustling with more than 50 professionals from primary, one and a half and secondary care, and now there is even more room to make a difference together.

An ode to courage — Thea Zweerink's art shines in Het Slotervaart.
Those who stand at the bottom of the stairs in the entrance hall of Het Slotervaart and look up are welcomed by Thea Zweerink's impressive art installation “Brave Women”.
The work shows 10 courageous women, depicted on tulle, in a size of 2.50 x 1.30 meters. After a successful exhibition at BIG ART, this powerful work of art has now been given a permanent place in Het Slotervaart.
